< BACK North Collin County Habitat for Humanity 07/18/2005 The faith based housing ministry Habitat for Humanity was granted $130,000 in assistance from MCDC in 2005. These funds were used to develop a 2.5 acre tract of land at the Wattley Park addition in east McKinney. Upon completion this project provided 11 homes, approximately 1200 square foot, on lots of 50’ x 100’. This project enhanced the appearance and improved the conditions of the Wattley Park community. Land was purchased for homes in Charleston Creek Phase II in 2006 with a grant of $181,553. Infrastructure work was completed on the Charleston Creek subdivision in 2007. $99,900 was provided to build retaining walls, put in paving, and control erosion. The North Collin County Habitat for Humanity seeks to alleviate substandard housing by providing the opportunity of home ownership to low-income working families.
